Are you planning a ski trip this winter? Here are some tips on how you can make this trip fun and affordable.

Rent Your Equipment:
Skiing equipment may be very expensive and unless you are an expert and frequent skier, you are better off just renting the gear. For example skis and boots can be rented at the Tamworth Snowdome for $29.95-39.95 per day, with helmets going for $9.95 per day. Resorts also offer standard learn to ski packages that include equipment rental as well as group lessons and lift tickets as low as $70-$80 for ages 12 and older

Lessons:
If you are new to skiing, there is no substitute for for learning from a trained professional. Instead of falling a lot and hurting yourself in the process or irritating more experienced skier friends or family members, simply take a few lessons. Do not try to teach yourself. Most of the resorts offer skiing lessons. Pond fishing tips for beginners can help you get started with fishing. It defines the different types of fish that can be found in ponds, how to fish for them, and the bait that’s needed for each type of fish. The types of fish found in ponds are carp, sunfish, catfish, and trout. There are many ways to go about fishing but the easiest way is by using a pole and a hook. You simply cast it into the water and wait for a bite. When it comes to bait there are two main types – live bait or artificial bait. Live bait consists of worms or minnows while artificial bait consists of plastic lures or grubs on a jig head.

Other things to do:
Many of the ski resorts have extra fun outdoor activities perfect for groups and families. If you are done with skiing for the day, you can take advantage of the fun on tubing runs, roller coasters. For Long Islanders, the nearest mountain coaster can be found at Jiminy Peak, which will take you down its 3,600-foot course at speeds up to 25 miles an hour ($7 ride with lift ticket purchase, $9 without).
